Weekly Geek - Quotes

This week's Weekly Geek is very near and dear to my heart. As some of you may have noticed I try and put a "favorite quote" at the the bottom of my reviews. I have collected quotes and lyrics for as long as I can remember and all the ones that really catch me go in to a green notebook given to me by one of my tenth grade teachers. So with that I give you this week's Weekly Geek.

A Quote a Day. This will have you pulling books off your shelves and Googling for your favorites. It also means a post a day for the next week - or as many as you can do. Quoth Dewey: You may want to come up with a theme, such as favorite passages from books, author quotes, political quotes, quotes about books or reading, humorous quotes, whatever. Or you may not want a theme at all; maybe you just want to gather up seven assorted quotes that appeal to you. You may want to start each of your posts of the week with a quote, or you may want to give quotes posts of their own in addition to your regular posts. It’s all up to you!

I am not going to do a theme, instead, today I am going to share two quotes I jotted down while I was reading last night and later in the week I will share some of my all time favorites.

From Second Helpings by Megan McCafferty
About a trip to Columbia University
"As an agnostic, I don't know who or what or why this force is pulling me toward New York. Frankly, it's beyond my comprehension. All I know is that when I set foot on that campus, I was so sure it was where I was supposed to be. It wasn't a shout that reverberated inside my body until I rocked with shock. No, it was a quiet but confident voice I wasn't used to hearing, one that assured me that I had just come to the right place where I could be a part of something great. It was the first time I'd ever felt that way in my life"

-and-

About a trip to Piedmont College
"I just came back from the innermost circle of hell, and it's decorated in Laura Ashley florals."

I loved the description of the first one, and it is truly how I felt on my own college campus. And the second just made me giggle.

What a thoughtful quote, the first one. And so relevant. Don't we all feel that way when something pulls us to someplace, or some thing? "A quiet but confident voice.."

I love the second one. It says it all, really, doesn't it?

Hi Erika,

I love quotes, too. Have you enjoyed my daily contributions in my sidebar?

Thanks for linking the current Weekly Geek meme for our Little Lov'n Monday.

Megan McCafferty is so quotable. My favorite MM/JD quote is from Charmed Thirds. :)

Erika,
I loved Second Helpings and that Laura Ashley quote made me laugh out loud!!! I love to collect quotes to and almost always include a passage that touched me in some way when I review a book. I have to add that one to my collection!! Thanks!
